PAN4ND's Mission
The PAN4ND network serves to encourage research collaboration between member
institutions to maximize the potential for discovery of hits and leads from Natural
Products for development as drugs for Neglected Diseases.
Coordinator of network: DNDi
The network is coordinated by the Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi), a
not-for-profit drug development partnership based in Geneva.
Founded in 2003 to address the needs of patients with the most neglected diseases,
DNDi works to research, develop, and facilitate the availability of new and improved
treatments against sleeping sickness (human African trypanosomiasis, HAT), visceral
leishmaniasis (VL), Chagas disease, and malaria.
DNDi has developed the largest ever R&D portfolio for the kinetoplastid diseases and
has already released two new antimalarial medicines. DNDi also raises awareness
about the need for greater R&D for neglected diseases, advocates for public
prioritization of neglected diseases, and strengthens existing research capacity in
disease-endemic countries.
Managing projects with both private and public partners, DNDi uses a "needs-driven"
portfolio-based approach that facilitates basic science, preclinical, and clinical
research on targeted diseases.

With industrial partners, DNDi has now made two new fixed-dose antimalarial
combinations available. Visit www.actwithasaq.org and www.actwithasmq.org.
